Free, self-paced training designed to help professionals apply AI responsibly while maintaining a human-centered approach to care.

This module will help you:
- Evaluate when AI is appropriate in care settings
- Recognize risks related to consent, privacy, and bias
- Maintain a human-centered approach to decision-making
- Integrate new technologies without compromising ethical standards
Why this training matters
AI is already being used in areas such as:
- Clinical documentation and workflow support
- Predictive analytics and risk identification
- Tools designed to assist caregivers and improve quality of life
At the same time, these tools introduce important ethical considerations particularly when working with older adults and individuals with cognitive impairment.
Approved for 1.0 ethics CEU for social workers through the LSU School of Social Work.
Other disciplines may submit for consideration.

Welcome to Dr. Rhonda “RJ” Bardales, PhD, LCSW
Dr. Bardales is from Southwest Louisiana and has been a rural medical social worker since graduating with her Masters in Social Work from LSU in 2012. In May 2026, RJ graduated with a PhD in Social Work with research interests in older adults as it relates to healthcare, advance care planning, health-related social needs, and death anxiety.
